After adapting Eternity in 2010, director M.L. Pundhevanop Dhewakul brings another classic novel to the big screen, Jan Dara. Utsana Phleungthams famous sixties erotic novel set in 1930s Siam was previously adapted for a controversial 2001 film directed by Nonzee Nimibutr. In 2012, Dhewakul offers his own racy two-part retelling with Jan Dara: The Beginning & the upcoming Jan Dara: The Finale.
Heartthrob Mario Maurer, who also appeared in Dhewakuls Eternity & The Outrage, stars as the eponymous Jan Dara, a young man who grows up under the fearsome influence of his abusive, womanizing father Lord Wisanan (Sakarat Ritthumrong). Jans mother died giving birth to him & Wisanan loathed Jan from that moment on. Obsessed with carnal pleasures, Wisanan had his way with every woman in the house & forced his son to watch. Raised in such a household, Jan, his half sister Kaew (AV actress Nishino Sho) & his best friend, servants son Ken (Chaiyapol Julian Poupart), also experience love & passion at a young age, joining the dangerous cycle of lust, violence & consequence. Jan finds puppy love with schoolgirl Hyacinth (Pinky Savika) & sexual awakening in the bosom of his fathers lover Boonleung (Rhatha Phongam).
