1582, Japan. When Oda Nobunaga & his eldest son are forced to take their own lives, his chief retainers including Shibata Katsuie (Yakusho Koji) & Hashiba Hideyoshi (Oizumi Yo) convene at Kiyosu Castle to decide on the fate of the shogunate. The chief retainers immediately split into two factions, with the conservative Shibata pushing for Nobunagas second son & with the wily, charismatic Hideyoshi pushing for another candidate.
