This isnt your regular A Chinese Ghost Story adaptation. Loosely based on the oft-adapted tale from Pu Songlings Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, TVBs My Spiritual Ex-Lover turns the haunting love story into a raucous comedy.
Ning Choi San (Edwin Siu) is dealing with a lot right now. His girlfriend (Jinny Ng) is pushing him to get married. His eldest brother (Evergreen Mak) is so stingy that he cant even treat their elderly father well. On top of all this, hes preparing to take the government official exam. He sets off for the exam with his second elder brother (Oscar Leung), whos looking to take the army general exam, but they soon run into trouble & get thrown out of the inn theyre staying in. Despite hearing stories of a beautiful female ghost who has a tendency to seduce men in the area, the brothers have no choice but to seek lodging at an abandoned shrine. There, they encounter the famous Nip Siu Sin (Nancy Sit), but instead of the beautiful ghost theyve heard so much about, they find that Siu Sin is a slightly plump older woman!
