Liu Chi Sheng may be retired, but hes still spending his days going on adventures & playing dangerous sports. After a nasty accident on a bicycle, hes admitted to the hospital. When his loving granddaughter goes to visit him, he begins to tell her about his days in the 1960s Taiwanese-language film industry. A contracted scriptwriter, young Chi Sheng (Blue Lan) was forced to churn out cheap, easy-to-produce scripts for the masses to keep up with dem&. At the premiere of his latest film Spy No.7, starring arrogant superstar Wan Pao Lung, Chi Sheng meets Mei Yueh (Amber An), a crazed fan of Pao Lung. They meet again later when Mei Yueh goes to audition for the Spy No. 7 sequel. Chi Sheng helps her secure a role as an extra, beginning a friendship that blossoms into love.
