Multi-talented Hong Kong entertainment veteran Lawrence Cheng ( He & She) returns to the directors chair after two decades in 2014s Break Up 100. Interested in examining contemporary romantic relationships, Cheng took on directing, producing & scripting duties for the film, which stars first-time collaborators Ekin Cheng ( Horseplay) & Chrissie Chau ( Mr. & Mrs. Player).
Sam (Ekin Cheng) & Barbara (Chrissie Chau) couldnt be more different. Sam is a man-child in his 40s who has yet to achieve anything of significance in life. Barbara is a proud & serious go-getter whose maturity belies her age. Its no wonder, then, that the couple has broken up 99 times during their eight-year relationship. The curious thing is, Sam & Barbara have made up & continued their relationship after each & every one of their breakups. The couple opens a caf together & the business becomes unexpectedly successful after Sam comes up with the idea of allowing their customers to store their break-up memorabilia in the caf, attracting a group of eccentric patrons including bakery owner Priscilla (Ivana Wong, Golden Chickensss). However, the couples 100th breakup looms on the horizon as the pressures of success threaten to pull them apart, & this time, the breakup could very well be permanent.
