Known for lensing the luscious visuals of films like Wong Kar Wais Happy Together & Zhang Yimous Hero, renowned cinematographer Christopher Doyle teams up again with Jenny Suen to write & direct the 2017 Hong Kong film The White Girl. Acclaimed Japanese actor Odagiri Joe & new-generation Hong Kong actress Angela Yuen ( Our Seventeen) star in this beguiling drama set in Hong Kongs last fishing village.
A 17-year-old girl (Angela Yuen) who is allergic to sunlight spends all her days trapped in a fishing village. No matter the season, she is always under a large hat & wrapped up in clothing when she leaves home. The other villagers mockingly call her the "e; White Girl"e; because of her pale skin tone & odd appearances. One day, a visitor (Odagiri Joe) comes to the fishing village & encounters the girl. The meeting awakens the girls understanding of herself & uncovers a secret that has been under wraps for many years.
