Product Description

Jaures Baroncini & his family have been producing wine since 1489. These Tuscan wines have won many medals in recent years. The San Gimignano, well-known in Italy, is a wonderfully lively wine bursting with fresh fruit on the nose. On the palate, the wine has a high acidity for a refreshing & mineral finish. More on Vernaccia... Wines from San Gimignano are made 100% from Vernaccia. This Italian grape variety was first planted in this region in 1200. San Gimignano is a rich site, allowing wine producers to really express the terroir in their own way. The wines quickly built a formidable reputation for themselves, so much so that even the Pope Martin IV (1281-1285) was a fan! He enjoyed his favourite tipple with fish dishes. & another thing... Vernaccia di San Gimignano was the first to be granted Denominazione di Origine Controllata in 1966. It was then reclassified to Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita in 1993.
