The Beaujolais ` Cru` Chiroubles is nestled between the hills of Fleurie & Morgon. It is perhaps the least well known of the 10 named ` Cru` villages of Beaujolais, yet it is considered one of the best. The vineyard is a combination of sand & granite stones planted with bush vine Gamay vines. The 7 hectare Pontheux domaine is run by Pierre Mezial, whose family have been at the property since 1889. The extraordinary ripeness & tiny yield of the vintage has resulted in a rich wine, exceptionally full for a Beaujolais yet rounded & supple.
