Looking forward to a British Summer where afternoon teas will be playing a starring role, Whittard are excited to announce their First Flush Darjeeling 2012 loose leaf tea. Better known as the Champagne of tea, there couldnt be a more perfect brew to toast the year of the Diamond Jubilee. The first flush is the springtime leaf which appears between February to mid April. These leaves produce the finest Darjeeling tea with its "meadow" sweetness & fragrant blossom style, lending to its unmistakably refreshing taste. The Margaret Hope estate is one of the oldest Darjeeling tea gardens, established high in the Himalayas in 1859 & re-named in the 1920s after Margaret, the owners daughter. It was Dick Whittards favourite garden & continues to produce this special tea he so loved.
