...The Ladykillers at The Gielgud Theatre, London Celebrated Ealing Comedy Comes to the Stage The Ladykillers is a black comedy that was originally made into a hilarious film by the Ealing Studios in the mid 1950s, starring Alec Guinness, Peter Sellers & Herbert Lom. This new adaptation has been created for the stage by prolific comedy writer Graham Linehan (The IT Crowd & Father Ted) & is directed by Sean Foley (The Play What I Wrote). The Ladykillers tells the story of a sweet little old lady, Mrs Wilberforce, who finds herself at the mercy of a gang of ruthless criminals after renting out rooms in her lopsided house. The police are stumped by the gang’s daring heist but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse, giving the crooks no option but to silence her for good. With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs Wilberforce seems no match for the five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music in the end? BAFTA Award-winner Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It) stars as Professor Marcus along with James Fleet (The Vicar of Dibley), Ben Miller (The Armstrong & Miller Show), Stephen Wight (Evening Standard Outstanding Newcomer) & Clive Rowe (Hackney Empire star) with Marcia Warren as the sweetly innocent Mrs Wilberforce.
