Voltarol gel helps to block the chemicals in your body which cause pain, inflammation & tenderness.  The emugel technology helps to make sure that the diclofenac easily penetrates your skin & can get to work at the source of your pain. A 2008 review showed that topical diclofenac formulas such as Voltarol Pain-Eze Gel were equal to or better than oral diclofenac, providing significant pain relief with reduced risk of side effects.  How to use Voltarol Gel Rub a small amount of the gel into the affected area, massaging in gently.  You should use Voltarol 3-4 times per day, making sure to leave four hours in between each use.  You should not use more than four times in a 24 hour period.  Always make sure to wash your hands after applying the gel, unless the hands are the area you are treating. You should not use Voltarol Pain-Eze for more than seven days unless advised to by your doctor.  If your pain & swelling do not reduce you should visit your GP.   Can you use Voltarol Pain-Eze Gel alongside other medications? No interactions have been found when using Volatol gel with other medications.  If used on unbroken skin the amount absorbed is unlikely to be enough to affect other medicines that are being taken orally.  However the manufacturer does not recommend using the gel in combination with any other medicine which contains diclofenac or with other NSAIDs including Ibuprofen.
