solutions for the famine
in Africa to stay in
place once all the
emergency relief efforts
of the 1980s ended.
Their mission is simply
to alleviate poverty
sustainably, whilst also
protecting the
environment and their
major focus has been on
supporting 164 Village
Tree Enterprise groups in
identifying products with
which they can develop
viable businesses. And so
far, they have managed
to raise 5.2 million
since they were
established, and have
helped rural communities
to plant over 6.5 million
trees. All of the A
grade timber used by
Ecofurn in the
manufacture of their beds
is sourced from well
managed, sustainable
plantations where the
trees are cut down and
replanted every 15 years.
