Product Description

Bruichladdich Octomore 6.2 Islay single malt Scotch whisky. 2013 release of the heavily peated Scotch matured in Limousin oak casks. Bruichladdich Bruichladdich Distillery was established in 1881 on the Rhinns peninsular on the island of Islay close by the sandy bays of Loch Indaal. Re-opened in 2001 with much of the original Victorian equipment restored to working order. The first release of Bruichladdich’s new whisky was the highly acclaimed PC5, the first release in the limited Port Charlotte range. Also producing very highly peated Octamore, Organic using Islay grown barley, & triple & quadruple distilled single malts. The Bruichladdich distillery visitor centre offers distillery tours including the bottling hall & the distillery participates in Feis Ile, the annual Islay Whisky Festival. Nose: The opening is a fusion of peat smoke & sea breezes with just a hint of iodine followed by juniper, pine, aniseed & cinnamon – so distinctively octomore. As the spirit breathes notes of blueberries, brambles, cherries, burnt orange & bitter chocolate thrum to the strong pulse of Islay. Inhale more deeply & you will discover the soft brown sugar from the bourbon casks harmonising with the succulent fruits from distillation – melon & guava with a twist of lemon & honey. It arouses the senses, quickens the heart & elevates the soul. Palate: The palate is strong, smokey & sweet & considering the notably high strength, the flavour of both Islay & cognac are clearly directed. It’s deceptive. At first the powerful, marine phenolic notes are predominant, however as the palate responds & adjusts it all comes together capturing the ruggedness of its place of origin & the mellowness of a grande champagne cognac. Finish: All of
