Alsace is the most easterly French wine appellation, running along the Rhine (Rhone) river south of Strasbourg. The Mure family own several plots of vineyards in the south of the region near the village of Rouffach & the famous Grand Cru vineyards of Vorbourg. Fresh, crisp & aromatic with a delicious purity of fruit & fragrances of lime & grapefruit. The grapes were grown organically on vines with an average age of 32 years, then carefully matured on their lees to bring out a quenching mineral freshness & vibrant exotic fruit flavours. A wonderfully elegant, bone-dry âanytime' riesling. A good Alsace riesling such as this is an incredibly versatile wine. This is drinking really well right now & would make the perfect aperitif to awaken the taste buds, as well as a great partner for either baked cheese starters, cold meat salads or spicy Asian dishes.
