The vineyards are located on the clay-limestone plateau of Gardegan, just eight miles from the famous steeple of Saint-Emilion. They have around 37 hectares of merlot & cabernet franc vines, with an average age of 29 years. A silky wine with lovely aromas of plum, cherry brandy, cinnamon bark, black pepper & cedar wood. On the palate it is effortless drinkable, with warm flavours of plum & tinned cherries rounded off with some vanillary oak & a touch of spice. Velvety tannins give it structure & the finish is nice & long. This wine is drinking perfectly now, & will continue to thrive for the next five years. It's a great wine for entertaining (not least because it tastes a lot more expensive than it is!) & is very nice with food, particularly delicatessen spreads, stews & lean red meats.
