Rare pieces of fossilised turritella agate & fossilized wood, have been hand cut from its natural form to Tateossian s own specifications. These rare forms are placed in a metal case which illuminates the natural patterns & colours of the stone. The turritella agate originates from Wyoming (mountain region of the Western United States) & has formed from the Eocene period around 45 million years ago. The turritella agate is composed of many spiral snail shells which has evolved into a densely silicified rock. The fossilized wood originated in Madagascar in the Triassic period around 220 million years ago. Petrified wood are fossils of wood that have turned to stone through the process of permineralization. All organic materials are replaced with minerals while maintaining the original structure of the wood. The outcome is a completion of natural patterns & colours, each one unique in its own way.
