First designed in 1904 the Cartier Santos became one of the world’s first pilot wrist watches. For a pilot the difficulty of checking a pocket watch became apparent when controlling an aircraft, so Louis Cartier created the Santos for his aviator friend, Alberto Santos-Dumont. 1978 saw the introduction of the more affordable steel/gold models with the captivating, miniature screw detailing, fast becoming the must have watch of the time. This 24mm steel model 2423 has the classic square, cream dial, with subtle silver Roman Numeral hour markers, as well as small, black Arabic Numeral five minute markers & blue sword hands. The date is displayed in between the 4 o’clock
- 5 o’clock position, as not to interfere with the well-thought-out design of this practical, timeless classic. The smooth bezel, with the iconic exposed screw heads surrounds & seamlessly connects you to the robust, singled linked bracelet. Image shown is actual timepiece.
