First designed in 1904 the Cartier Santos became one of the world’s first pilot wrist watches. For a pilot the difficulty of checking a pocket watch became apparent when controlling an aircraft, so Louis Cartier created the Santos for his aviator friend, Alberto Santos-Dumont. 1978 saw the introduction of the more affordable steel/gold models with the captivating, miniature screw detailing, fast becoming the must have watch of the time. This steel and gold model has the classic square, white dial, with prominent black Roman Numeral hour markers and blue sword hands. The smooth gold bezel, with the iconic exposed screw heads, surround and seamlessly connects you to the robust, singled linked bracelet. Image shown is actual timepiece.
