The crisp geometric shapes of the stones give this ring a lot of style. The silvery colour of the white gold shows of the violet blue of the tanzanite and the whiteness and sparkle of the diamonds beautifully. Tanzanite is a relatively new gem to the market, only discovered in 1967 it comes exclusively from a small mining area of Tanzania.
The lovely violet blue of tanzanite is complemented by the warmth of a yellow gold shank, and the diamond accents of the elegant trilogy design add a subtle sparkle. The gems are set in white gold to show them off their colour. Perfect as an engagement or a dress ring.
This show stopping gemstone has a romantic story. The Paraiba Tourmaline, famous for its glowing, blue green, luminous colour, was only discovered in the early 1980s. Brazilian based prospector Heitor Dimas Barbosa had a hunch that the run down old Mina da Batalha in the state of Paraíba, had something to give. Despite scepticism from colleagues he followed his hunch and after 5 years of searching he was rewarded with his amazing discovery. Brazilian Tourmalines are incredibly rare, one is discovered for every 10, 000 diamonds mined and they are rarely over 3 carats from this site. A second source of this beautiful gemstone was subsequently found in Mozambique and Nigeria, where more seams of copper have combined to produce this gloriously coloured stone. Tourmalines from this area can be up to 5 carats.
