watches. For a pilot the
difficulty of checking a
pocket watch became
apparent when controlling
an aircraft, so Louis
Cartier created the
Santos for his aviator
friend, Alberto
Santos-Dumont. 1978 saw
the introduction of the
more affordable
steel/gold models with
the captivating,
miniature screw
detailing, fast becoming
the must have watch of
the time. This
stainless-steel Gents
model has the classic
square, white dial,
with prominent blue roman
Numeral hour markers and
matching blue sword
hands. The date is
displayed at the 6
o’clock position, as
not to interfere with the
well-thought-out design
of this practical,
timeless classic. The
smooth bezel, with the
iconic exposed screw
heads surround and
