IGCSE English First Language Course This distance learning English IGCSE course is designed for students for whom English is their mother tongue. The course helps to develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately & effectively in both speech & writing. It also develops more general analysis & communication skills such as synthesis, inference, & the ability to order facts & present opinions effectively. Students of this course learn how to employ a wide-ranging vocabulary, use correct grammar, spelling & punctuation, & develop a personal style & an awareness of the audience being addressed. Students are also encouraged to read widely, both for their own enjoyment & to further their awareness of the ways in which English can be used.  This IGCSE English First Language course is only concerned with English Language; it does not cover study of literature, although reference is made from time to time to literary texts & techniques.
