Diabetes Course Part 1 This is the first of two modules examining the disease Diabetes Mellitus & many of the policy issues surrounding it. In this module you will be introduced to the nature & pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus. You will examine in critical detail some of the standards within the NSF for diabetes, the context of assessment, treatment & management of the disease in adults, children & adolescents, as well as the implementation of these standards within the community & hospital settings, & the evidence base for best practice in diabetes care.ed conclusions from data, Descriptive Statistics is utilised to describe what the data is presenting. Part 2 This is the second module on diabetes, which continues to examine in detail the remaining standards within the NSF for Diabetes & their implementation. By the end of this course the student should be able to propose, justify & critically evaluate educational strategies for clients with diabetes in order to promote their empowerment & self care; demonstrate in-depth evidence-based knowledge of the assessment, treatment & management of people with diabetes during admission to hospital & during pregnancy, utilising new approaches to care management when appropriate; demonstrate in-depth evidence-based knowledge related to the assessment, treatment & management of long-term complications of diabetes mellitus; demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a multiprofessional diabetes service & an understanding of other professionals' roles, identifying the leadership requirements of team care for clients with diabetes; & demonstrate in-depth knowledge of current local & national policy relevant to diabetes, identifying, assessing & resolving problems raised by policy change.
