Product Description

Europe at 1: 4, 000, 000, on a double-sided road map from the AA, with cartography by Freytag & Berndt, gives an overview of the road networks, features numerous enlargements showing road access to fifteen major cities. On one side the indexed part of the map covers Europe up to the eastern borders of Pol&, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Macedonia & Greece, although the map itself extends further east to include Belarus, western Ukraine with Kiev, Moldova, Romania & Bulgaria. On the reverse, a similar arrangement covers the Scandinavian countries & the Baltic States, with coverage extending to St, Petersburg & Russia north of it. Motorways are shown with their European & local numbers. European road numbers are given on other connecting main & secondary roads only, where applicable. The base map has faint relief shading & some spot heights to show the topography, & indicates selected national parks. The map has no geographical coordinates. Enlargements show in greater detail road networks around London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Madrid, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Rome, Athens, Warsaw & the four Scandinavian capitals. Also provided is a diagram showing road distance, plus a list of countries with country identifiers used on cars. The map is indexed & the multilingual legend

Stanfords was established in 1853 and opened their iconic Covent Garden flagship store in 1901. They have become the top retailer of maps, travel books and accessories in the UK and arguably offer the largest selection of maps and travel books worldwide. Famous names such as Captain Robert Falcon Scott, Ranulph Fiennes and Michael Palin have purchased from Stanfords. They now have a shop in Bristol and both stores together with other venues operate a calendar of events including talks, book signings and exhibitions. As a specialist map retailer, the map selection is comprehensive and includes road maps, street maps and walking maps from worldwide destinations, as well as a selection of world atlases and wall maps. Books include travel guides and travel literature. Stanfords also stock globes, from miniatures made of blue marble to magnificent floor-standing globes. The website features a selection of interesting articles on travel topics.
