Called Fête this tableau presents various characters, drawn with an elegant, sweeping h&, exquisitely inked & tinted. A maypole dance is in progress attended by a Scotsman in Highland dress, a sailor, a "dandy" & a bulldog for good measure. Also shown are a couple of policemen, bearskin hatted army drummers, a Chelsea pensioner, a scholar or student & a Welsh woman in national dress with characteristic conical hat.
