An unusual archive Liberty of London print, circa 1954, exclusive to Simon Carter. A study of traditional 'catseye' marbles, originally in gouache
- an earthier, opaque medium compared to translucent watercolour which is more often the source of Liberty art prints. The design feels decidedly modernist with its bold regular forms at various scales combined with undulating, or twisting almost organic colour elements. Bold, but with a delightfully muted palette of dusky pinks, grey & olive green. I find it rather enchantingly absorbing & peaceful. Three button cuff.
