In 1977 the Jack Prince studio designed Amanda's Opera as a scarf for Liberty of London. This updated version forms part of their Autumn 2022 collection & I love it. There's more than a hint of Kabuki with Japanese figures & motifs scattered among what could be kimono designs. The limited colour palette makes this a very easy shirt to wear. A little unusually for my designs, this would look very chic with a knitted silk tie. Made with Liberty Fabric, using their super soft 100% cotton Tana Lawn®, & manufactured in Portugal. The block is gently tailored, & the collar has removable stiffeners. Made in Portugal 100% Tana Lawn® cotton 1 button cuff Machine washable Warm iron Do not tumble dry ...

This charming design features period, annotated illustrations of early adventures in hot air ballooning, dirigibles, airships & other airborne or potentially airborne craft. Colours are cyan, bottle green, lavender, rose, umber; all rather optimistic or aspirational, though muted with age, on an irregularly tan flecked ground, adding to the sense of antiquity. I like how this design evokes the inventiveness & enthusiasm, innocence perhaps of a bygone age. Single button cuff, tailored fit shirt. ...

One of the big developments in garment technology recently has been in digital printing. It allows more complex designs to be applied to a greater variety of surfaces. Here, our friends at Alan Paine have taken the finest, gauze-like wool, & printed a luxurious abstract paisley with added floral motifs for good measure. The acid greens & funky violets really make the scarf stand out, & once opened, its almost a shawl with its generosity of fabric. luxury is a word we bandy about too often, but here it is well earned. Sophisticated & stylish. ...

AP Chapel Print Scarf

One of the big developments in garment technology recently has been in digital printing. It allows more complex designs to be applied to a greater variety of surfaces. Here, our friends at Alan Paine have taken the finest, gauze-like wool, and printed a luxurious medallion pattern onto a greige background. With hints of green, navy and burgundy, with highlights of white that really make the scarf stand out, and once opened, its almost a shawl with its generosity of fabric. Luxury is a word we bandy about too often, but here it is well earned. Sophisticated and stylish.
