- Terlano Terlano Cantina Terlano was founded as a co-operative back in 1893 & now numbers over 100 contributing producers all farming tiny plots on terraces cut into the slopes of Mount Schöggel at altitudes of up to 1000 metres. These south-facing slopes strewn with crystals & volcanic rock give rise to wines of wonderful elegance complexity & minerality & give spectacular views into the Bolzano Valley below – this is where Italy meets Germany in more ways than one. What is so striking about Cantina Terlano is the consistent excellence of the wines produced vintage after vintage & the varietal character that marks every single wine (without oak to cloak the aromatics). ‘ Kellermeister’ Rudi Kofler aims for wines of typicity & longevity & he achieves this with impressive regularity. Sauvignon Blanc Winkl 2008 A wonderfully elegant example of Sauvignon Blanc Winkl comes from vines between 300-500 m. Good Sauvignon nose ripe green fruits & elderflower. Fresh lively palate & a fine minerally finish. Excellent. Terlaner Classico 2008A traditional Terlano blend of Pinot Bianco Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc that has been a favourite in the region for over 100 years. Quite floral with tropical fruits & mineral touches. This opens up to have impressive richness of fruit balanced with a clean acidity & long finish. Very versatile with food.
