Brothers Henri & Louis AndrieuÂ’s family have owned this 110 hectare property east of Carcasonne for four generations & there is a real sense of continuity combined with a desire to maintain & improve the family inheritance. Louis speaks of “le beau métier du vigneron” as if it is his duty to make the best wines he possibly can & achieves this through a combination of very low yields (down to 35 hl/ha Â- amazing for this part of France) organic grapes & partial barrique ageing. The Andrieus are very much at the forefront of the new wave of winemakers in the Languedoc. As for the name Le Moulin des Nonnes is the old mill which still stands in the middle of the vineyards once used by the Clarisses (Poor Clare) sisters of the former convent to grow grain. We prefer the modern crop here! Cuvee Ines Rouge 2004 The delicious Rouge is two-thirds Syrah plus Mourvèdre & is quite rich ripe & full of dark berry fruit. It has lovely texture thanks to a year in French oak
