Myshelf.com: Teabag folding was invented by Tiny one day when she was sitting in a cafe with several decorated packets that had held teabags. Janet brought the craft to the UK, and now many cardmakers have discovered what fun you can have with a series of little square pictures. But any idea needs to grow and change or risk stagnation, and here is a book filled with new ways of folding and combining those squares. Best of all, there are even eight sheets at the back of the book so you can make a start right away. It is not easy to come up with a new twist on an old idea, but here are several. Not only are there some fancier folds for cards, but also a necklace, hanging decorations, Christmas tree baubles, picture and box decorations, just to name some. The sections are each inspired by a different culture, and these include Ireland, Moorish Spain, Japan, Russia and Lapland. If you have never folded a square in your life, this book might be a little daunting, but it is aimed at those who have tried the basics already and are looking for something new. The staged photographs are easy to follow, and good results are within the grasp of anybody who is adept at following diagrams. Other popular crafting methods are included, too, such as wirework, metal embossing, paper beads and popup cards. With a combination of clear diagrams, lovely papers, imaginative projects and a good knowledge of the current craft world, this is a book to treasure-and what a good present it would make for the crafter in your life!

Kaffe Fassetts Quilts en Provence: Twenty designs from Rowan for patchwork and quiltingThis, the 12th in the series of Kaffe Fassetts highly successful patchwork and quilting books from Rowan, is photographed by Debbie Patterson against the backdrop of the picturesque town of Roussillon in the South of France. The narrow medieval streets full of colourful old buildings make a fantastic backdrop for another stunning collection of 20 new quilt designs from Kaffe and his chosen team of designers. Kaffe brings another collection of sumptuous new fabrics to patchwork enthusiasts, showing them how to create his wonderful harmonies of colour in exciting new ways. Kaffe's way with patchwork is not about tricky piecing but always about the joyous use of unexpected colour stories. Because of this, the quilts in this book show how traditional piecing can be newly interpreted with a modern twist. This time, Kaffe highlights the work of fabric designer Philip Jacobs in his Designer Profile, whose collections are a mainstay of Rowan fabrics success. Philip has an international reputation for designing wonderful floral fabrics for major furnishing houses in the U.K. His love of natural forms and oriental art inspired him to become a textile designer, so when Kaffe invited him to design patchwork fabric for Rowan he jumped at the chance. As always, the book introduces the new range of fabrics from Rowan, with a gallery of the 20 quilts shot on location, followed by a full shot of the quilt for reference purposes, with the ingredients list of fabrics and full written instructions illustrated with coloured diagrams. Templates for the quilts appear in the appendix to the book. About the Author: Kaffe Fasset settled in England in 1964. Further to a trip to Scotland he stumbled on an irresistible collection of coloured yarns. A few months later he was hooked and proceeded to knit and stitch himself a career. Hes exhibitied at the V&A museum in London and is highly regarded knitting, patchwork and needlepoint books.

Stash with Splash Quilts features 14 quilt designs, each with variations, plus a quilted purse design, which help quilters use their stash fabric collection while still encouraging them to purchase that special splash fabric that completes the projects with pizzazz. All of the designs utilize timesaving techniques such as rotary cutting, assembly line piecing, and quick shape cutting with specialty rulers. And none of the quilts include cutting 1/8 measurements because the author shows you how to eliminate those for good! Old favourites, as well as new quilt designs, are presented to showcase a quilters stash fabric. The borders, and occasionally the background fabrics, are the added splash to complement the quilt. The chapters in this book are organized in the ways that quilters organize their stash fabrics: in fat quarters, scraps, strips and leftover pieces. About the Author: Cindy Casciato is a teacher, designer, author and quilter with 30 years of experience teaching quilting and related topics. This 11 count, 100% combed cotton Aida pack contains one piece of white Aida. Woven and finished in the USA by MCG Textiles Inc. This piece is 30" x 36" (76.2 x 91.4cm) which is great for a large cross stitch projects or an ideal way to save money, when buying for lots of small projects. The count size refers to how many holes there are per inch of fabric. These pieces have 11 holes per inch, which is ideal for ideal for beginners or experienced stitchers who prefer to work on a larger count fabric. The higher the count the smaller the stitches.
If you would like to work out what size fabric you need for your charted design. Count how many squares there are in each direction of your chart and divide by the count of your fabric. For large projects we would suggest that you leave a 5" margin in each direction for stretching, framing or finishing. There is nothing worse than working on a project only to find that the design will not fit on your piece of fabric!
All Aida is woven from threads grouped in bundles to form a square pattern on the fabric, which in turn creates the holes. These holes direct you to where the needle should be inserted and the straightness of the fabric therefore is very important for the design of the pattern.
MCG Textiles have been manufacturing the finest quality needlework fabrics for over 35 years. They use only the finest machines available, to ensure straightness, hole count and consistency of colour. The Aida is proudly woven in the USA from 2 ply 100% cotton yarns which have been grown in America.
