Prunus 'violet Candy'
This unusual fruit is a complex cross between a plum & an apricot. The large peach-sized fruits are smooth skinned & very juicy (like a plum) & have a unique flavour, much like a blend of fruit juices. They are deliciously flavoured, yielding fruit of incomparable sweetness. This very sweet variety produces large deep violet fruits with yellow-orange flesh that turns crimson red when fully ripe. Excellent sweet flavour. Pluots flower early & therefore require similar growing conditions to apricots
- a warm, sheltered site in full sun. They can be trained as a fan or grown as free standing trees.
Pollination: Self-fertile.
Season: early September.
