Ficus carica ' Sultane'
A medium sized dark violet/black fig that ripens in the autumn. The fruits are are of high quality & can often be found on the supermarket shelves, imported from abroad. An idea choice for our UK climate as the figletts form from early June onwards, & are therefore not affected by late spring frosts. The crop is very large, with 7 year old trees bearing hundreds of fruits. When fully ripe the figs have a very soft strawberry coloured flesh & a very high sugar content.
