The Portugal Laurel (Prunus Lusitanica ` Angustifolia`) hedge is in an 80 litre pot, 120140cm high. The hedge is ready clipped at the sides, so all you need to do is plant & cut the top to the height required. These hedges come direct from the nursery on a pallet. It has narrower leaves than the species & brighter red stalks & new twigs. It grows moderately & very dense into a regular, pyramidal shrub. In our climate it seldom reaches 3m tall. Blossoms are numerous racemes, compound of white, sweetly scented flowers. Fruits are black berries, & contain the same poison found in bitter almonds. Pruning is not needed but is possible in April or mid July. Portugal Laurel, or Cherry Laurel (Prunus Lusitanica ` Angustifolia`) does well in full sun but will thrive almost anywhere. In locations with cold & long winters we suggest finding it a place without direct winter sunlight that might burn its leaves. Once established it tolerates summer dry spells. On the other h&, the moister the soil is the richer & healthier foliage you can expect. The soil is preferred acidic, permeable, & rich in organic matter.
