To ensure correct & safe closure of the cage without breaking any screws both locks should be fully lifted up pointing towards the top of the cage i.e.vertical to the cage itself. The bolt should then be slid into place ensuring it has been fully engaged. At that point the bolt can be brought back down to the correct position ie pointing towards the base of the cage.
