Journal Quilt Challenge: Wholecloth Quilting by Jenny Barlow This time Jenny Barlow introduces the basis of wholecloth quilting. Join in for a challenge! Jenny started quilting in the late 1970s making items such as cot quilts for her second child & hangings to cover worn plaster in a nursery. She went to patchwork & quilting classes held by a wide variety of teachers, learning many different techniques. Amongst these, Amy Emms & Lilian Hedley, both very traditional Durham quilters & teachers, helped develop her interest in Durham quilts with their characteristically plain fabric enhanced with beautiful & sympathetic patterns based on feathers, cables & leaves. Once she had mastered making these patterns, a quilt followed. This project is an extract from Popular Patchwork magazine first published in November 2009. It is a Digital Edition & comes as a downloadable PDF file. Template for this project is of A3 size. You need to purchase it separately & it will be printed out & sent directly to your home.
