Robert Kubica was born on December 7th 1984 in Krakau, Pol&. At the age of six he started to drive karts. At the age of 10 he was the Polish champion. Three years later he moved to Italy due to the fiercer competition. In 1988 he was the first non Italian to win the Italian junior carting championship & he finished second in the European Cart Cup.
In 2001 & 2002 he started in the Formula Renault & in his second season he finished second overall in the Italian championship. In 2003 he gave his debut in the Forumula 3 Euro series & won his first race, which was held at the Norisring in Nuremberg. In 2004 he finished seventh overall in the Euro series & finished second at the Formula 3 Grand Prix in Macao.
In the 2005 season he started in the Renault-World-Series, which participates with 3.5 litre V6 engines. Kubica reached four victories in 17 races & won the World Championship title with 154 points ahead of Adrian Valles & Markus Winkelhock. For the first time on December 1st 2005 he test drove the Renault F1 car R25 in Barcelona.
Then he was signed by BMW as the Friday & test driver for the new factory team. As the underdog he won the competition against the superior ranked drivers Alexander Wurz or Sebastién Bourdais.
During the 2006 season he moved in the cockpit of the BMW & replaced Jacques Villeneuve, who was dismissed in Hockenheim after 12 races into the season. Due to his good results he earned a starting spot for the 2007 season.
In 2007 he clearly lost the team fight to Nick Heidfeld, but he achieved some very good results at times, due to which he made himself heard of. He also was involved in one of the year’s stories. At the Canadian Grand Prix he was involved in a fatal crashed but it seemed to be a wonder, since he stepped out of the car with only minor injuries. He finally established himself in Formula 1 by winning his first Grand Prix in Canada only one year later.
The 2009 season was not a successful one for Kubica & he had problems to dominate Heidfeld as he had done it in the previous year. Later BMW announced its retirement from BMW & so Kubica had to search for a new employer, which he found in Renault.
