The 77th 24 hours of Le Mans was a success for Peugeot: Around five hours into the race, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP with start number 9, driven by David Brabham, Marc Gené & Alex Wurz, took the lead & defended it until the chequered flag. Their fellow teammates, Sébastien Bourdais, Franck Montagny & Stéphane Sarrazin, riding in the number 8 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, came in second & completed the double victory for the Lion br&. For Peugeot it was the first victory with the 908 HDi FAP diesel sports car at the French endurance race. In 1992 & 1993 the French automobile manufacturer won on a Peugeot 905. The third Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, having the number 7 & being driven by Christian Klien, Pedro Lamy & Nicolas Minassian, finished the race in sixth place.
