Bedford OB Coach (Southdown Motor Services 1949) in Green (1:24 scale)
- The Bedford OB was designed specifically for public transport, & was used by many large operators, as well as hundreds of the smaller operators during the 50"s & 60"s. Introduced in 1939, only 73 chassis were manufactured before production was stopped following the outbreak of World War II. Production resumed in October of 1945. The rear axle combined with the mounting of the engine, permitted a sunken central gangway for easier passenger access. In 1947 there were slight alterations made, the destination & fleet name boxes were modified to a more rounded edge.
