Dr Martens began in 1945 when Klaus Martens a doctor in the German army injured his ankle skiing in the alps. Whilst recovering he found that the standard army issue boots were to uncomfortable to wear & designed a softer leather boot with a cushioned sole, the beginnings of Dr Martens. By 1959 the brand had grown large enough to market internationally & immediately the British shoe manufacturer R. Griggs Group Ltd bought the patent rights to manufacturer in the UK. They slightly changed the name, reshaped the heel & added trademarked yellow stitching & Air Wair soles making the first UK Dr Martens boot the 1460. Released in 1960 it is still a classic boot in todays range. Dr Martens have had many changes over the years but their trademark look & quality manufacturing never changes, always a classic brand their popularity has grown over & over with people of all ages wearing them. In this fantastic patent red colour this Clemency brings a new twist to the classic DM. The upper is made from a quality, patent leather with an Air Wair insole for all day comfort. Like the classic 1460 the Clemency is an 8 eye & the front lace system ensures a secure fit. The chunky, heeled outsole is Dr Martens traditional sole & is slip & oil resistant for great traction. Completed with the stand out yellow stitching this boot gives Dr Martens Heritage a new look. Dr Martens Clemency
