The grapes for this wine are grown on the Taylor familys estate, Clare Valleys largest largest family-owned winery, which today has over 400ha of vines. The winery was named after the Wakefield river which flows past the first vineyards purchased by the Taylors in 1969. A deep & inky wine with youthful violet tinges. Medium to full bodied, the wine is awash with plum & cherry flavours, & undertones of chocolate & persistent tannins which give a long finish. This easy-going & straightforward wine will match rich pasta sauces for weight, without smothering the herbs & spices.
