The Cruz de Piedra estate is now in its second generation of family ownership. Established in 1973 by Sigifredo Alonso, the estates vines are now mature, & produce excellent quality fruit in their location 1000m above sea level, where they are irrigated by snowmelt. Deep ruby red in colour. The aromas are of ripe bramble & red fruits, with hints of pudding spice & delicate oak. Concentrated & juicy on the palate, with robust but fine-grained tannins. At its best with rare beef or lamb steaks, rubbed with garlic & rosemary.
