If you’ve drunk Rioja, you’re almost guaranteed to have come across Marqués de Cáceres. Since the 1970s they’ve been producing quality wines in the Spanish region. Their expertise certainly shows in this Crianza. The grapes, primarily Tempranillo, are grown on plots in Rioja Alta & Rioja Alavesa, then aged for 12 months in oak to lend aromas of toasted wood & spices. It’s full of candied red fruit flavours & very smooth to drink, thanks to elegant tannins. A wine for a gourmet burger, comforting stew or chorizo-based dishes.
