Penfolds’ Bin 2 was first released in 1960 – but was temporarily discontinued in the 1970s during the country’s white wine boom. Now it’s back, made under the watchful eye of Chief Winemaker Peter Gago. It’s a blend of Shiraz & Mataro – also known as Mourvèdre – & it’s a combination that’s still quite uncommon in Australian table wines. Soft & medium-bodied with subtle hints of oak, its rich redcurrant & plum flavours are delicious with roast venison. The 2019 vintage was awarded Silver at the 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards.
