Syrah remains a rarity in Spain relative to Tempranillo & Garnacha, yet it suits the climate well. From Extremadura, Spains fourth largest wine region, Vega Adriana was made at the 120 year old Bodegas Viña Extremeña, where use of herbicides or chemical fertilisers is an anathema. Specialising in ageing parcels of wine to maturity prior to release, the estate has established a great reputation & over the years won more awards than any other in Spain. Vega Adriana is the most modern tasting of the classic wines they produce. It was aged for a year in French oak (considered to add more elegant nuances than American oak) & for several more years in bottle. Medium, yet full flavoured, this red is ideal with pork, turkey or cured hams.
