Named after the local wind that plays such a significant part in winemaking throughout the Rhône Valley, Domaine du Mistral has been in the hands of Yves Aubert & his brothers for 15 years. They were already owners of another highly successful estate located in Donzère (just south of Montelimar) but could not resist buying this 170 hectare property, situated in the celebrated region known as Plan de Dieu or Plain of God. Their purchase proved a canny one, as Yves has since scooped an impressive tally of medals for the estates wines. Made from the fruit of gnarled old Grenache & Syrah vines, this soft, supple red delivers ripe berry flavour of delicious intensity. A great choice with grilled meats, herby casseroles & roast chicken.
