Famous for its regal sweet wine, Tokaji, Hungary in fact has many vinous strings to its bow, including Pinot Noir. This rather splendid sparkling version shows just what fantastic quality this grape is capable of. Around Hungarys Lake Balaton Pinot Noir was know as Kisburgundi, or little Burgundy, acknowledging its suitability to the local climate, where the lakes water takes in the heat during the day & lets it go at night, so there are none of the extremes of temperature the grape detests
- even Burgundys Côte d Or struggles to achieve such steady ripening. Soft berry flavours dance across the tongue in this marvellous pink fizz. Great served with meaty canapes, like sausage rolls & chorizo, or simply with a punnet of cherries.
