This Bordeaux blend with extra Aussie ripeness was made by Steve Grimley, head honcho at our own highly acclaimed Red Heads winery in the McLaren Vale. He also has his own back shed operation where he produces small volume cuvees from special parcels of grapes. For this wine he sourced dense, cassis rich Cabernet & smooth plummy Merlot from a single vineyard on an outcrop of limestone rich soil in western Victoria. Steve helped the vineyard owner, Tony Wilson, to plant the vines back in 1999. The climate there is relatively cool & the vines are dry grown, resulting in grapes with terrific intensity of flavour. Matured for 11 months in seasoned oak, the wine is smooth & full flavoured
