Cabbage Derby Day is delicious boiled steamed or shredded raw into salads. This is an early ballhead summer cabbage with a good resistance against bolting. By growing your own Cabbage you get the fresh garden taste & sense of satisfaction but also genuine health benefits too

Sow outdoors from mid March to end of May thinly in a prepared seedbed 13mm deep alternatively sow mid February in pots or trays under glass then transplant outdoors for earliest heads in June. Transplant when large enough to handle about 5 weeks from sowing into well-prepared soil in a sunny spot. Allow 38cm each way between plants planting firmly & water in. Compact plants allow closer spacings & less wasted outer leaves. Harvest about 60 days from transplanting. Later sowing from the end of May will produce quality heads to October.
