Pot up pelargonium plants & grow them on in warm frost-free conditions. When all risk of frost has passed gradually acclimatise geranium plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before transplanting them into their final positions in containers beds & borders. Plant geraniums in a sunny or semi-shaded position in any light non-acidic well drained soil. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching & form a bushier plant which will produce more flowers later on.

Plant magnolias in a sunny or semi shaded position with protection from cold winds & hard spring frosts. Magnolias prefer a rich moist well drained acid to neutral soil. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve the soil prior to planting mixing it thoroughly & deeply. Magnolia plants establish quicker when their roots are shaded. Following planting apply a mulch of rotted bark chips manure or garden compost taking care not to mound it around the stem of the plant.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young magnolias are fully established. In spring apply a mulch of well rotted bark chips or garden compost to the base of the plant. Magnolias require little pruning other than to maintain their shape & remove damaged stems or crossing stems.

Pot up plants using free-draining compost and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown acclimatise English lavender plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out on free draining soil in full sun. They dislike wet ground particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting. When growing in large patio containers use a well drained soil based compost. After planting prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.
Water regularly throughout summer until lavender plants are fully established. Once established they are reasonably drought tolerant. Immediately after flowering prune English lavender back to within 2cm of the previous
year
