Often seen sprinkling cornfields this variety is ideal for creating a bright splash of colour in a sunny corner where little else will grow.

This hardy annual will grow to a height of 45-60cm (18-24in). Sow outdoors April to May or September to October. Staggered sowings in spring will extend the flowering season. Prepare the ground well & rake to a fine tilth before sowing scattering the seed & raking in lightly. When large enough to handle remove any seedlings which are too close to each other so that they are 15-30cm apart. They prefer a sunny open site but will grow in most sites & soils.

For the longest flowering period & to prevent self seeding remove the seed pods as the petals fall. Flowers early summer to a height of up to 1
