The alicante is a superior variety possessing all the things we look for in a tomato. It produces a heavy crop of greenback free fruit early in the season & the flavour is excellent.
For greenhouse culture sow from late winter to early spring at 1.5mm deep. Germination usually takes 6-14 days at 24-27C. To grow outside sow in early spring & grow as described.
Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 8cm pots & plant out into grow bags or pots when large enough at 45cm apart. When Approx. 20cm tall gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions.
This is done by planting outside at intervals of 45cm apart with 75cm between the rows in a warm sunny spot in moist well drained soil. Provide adequate support & tie in regularly. Remove all side shoots as they appear & restrict the plant to one main stem.
